Samsung Takes on iPad with the Launch of Galaxy S Tab Series and its Super Display

Now Samsung Take On Apple Retina Display with its Latest Launch Of Galaxy Tab S Series which is Using Same Display Technology as LG is using in its G3 Smartphone. The Galaxy Tab S models are thinner, lighter, and faster than earlier efforts, and they have new Super AMOLED displays that Samsung says easily outperform their LCD-equipped counterparts

Both The Devices Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and 10.5 boasts the QHD (2560 x 1600) pixel AMOLED screens offer 20 percent better color range and 100 times better contrast ratio than comparable LCDs. In person, they are very bright and very vibrant, though they still exhibit the over-saturated look anyone that’s used a Galaxy S smartphone can relate to. Samsung is including some software tools to tweak colors and brightness, which help make the displays easier to look at while reading

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4

Speaking of specifications, the 8.4-inch tablet features a Super AMOLED WQXGA (2560×1600 pixels) display with a pixel density of 359ppi. The tablet is powered by a 1.3GHz Exynos 5 octa-core chipset (quad-core 1.9GHz Cortex-A15 cores and quad-core 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 cores) or 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 quad-core chipset.

The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 also features 16/32GB internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card, an 8-megapixel rear camera with full HD 1080p video recording, and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera. Both the processors are paired with 3GB of RAM.

One thing differentiating this variant from the bigger tablet is the battery, with the 8.4-inch featuring a 4,900mAh battery. It too runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat wrapped under the Magazin UI and includes an IR blaster and a fingerprint scanner.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5

Talking of specifications, the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 features a Super AMOLED WQXGA (2560×1600 pixels) display with a pixel density of 288ppi. It is powered by a 1.3GHz Exynos 5 octa-core chipset (quad-core 1.9GHz Cortex-A15 cores and quad-core 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 cores) or 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 quad-core chipset depending upon the market.

Also included is 3GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card, an 8-megapixel rear camera with full HD 1080p video recording, 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 7,900mAh battery.

On the software front, this tablet too runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box, wrapped under Samsung’s new Magazine UI. The tablet also features an IR blaster on the side and a fingerprint scanner a la the Galaxy S5 flagship smartphone. With a thickness of only 6.6mm, this tablet also happens to be the slimmest tablet in the copmany’s portfolio.

Others: One of the biggest additions is the new software features like SideSync 3.0 and Remote PC. The former is similar to Apple’s Continuity and Handodd, except that instead of just reciving calls through the tablet, SideSync actually creates a virtual image of your S5 on the Tab S and lets you use all the functions as if you were physically using the phone. 

For accessories, Samsung is offering a folding Book Cover and a basic Simple Cover, each available in a variety of colors. The covers snap to the back of the tablets through a unique grommet system, as opposed to the more common magnetic attachment used by other case makers and there’s a rather hefty 10.5-inch-wide Bluetooth keyboard designed for the Tab S. If you’re focused on productivity, you might want it, but it does almost double the weight of the 10.5-inch Galaxy Tab S tablet. The Pricing  are $399 for (8.4-inch) and $499 for (10.5-inch) tablets are priced squarely against Apple’s iPad mini with Retina display and iPad Air.
